McKinley Marketing History
Contrary to common belief, there is no one named "McKinley" involved with our firm - nor has there ever been. McKinley Marketing was founded by Jodie Slaughter in 1994 to help corporations connect with appropriate association partners.
During the 1980's and 1990's, many companies viewed associations - with their numerous marketing channels and loyal member bases - as fertile ground for alliances to extend their brands. Hundreds of professional and trade organizations developed "affinity programs" in an effort to further capitalize their unique customer relationships. McKinley Marketing facilitated introductions between corporations and associations for the express purpose of developing value-added member benefit programs. Under Jodie's guidance, McKinley Marketing soon became the market leader in this field, enjoying years of success and garnering the trust of hundreds association executives.
Just after the turn of the century, the leadership at McKinley Marketing realized that as a result of its experience in working with associations - and through its close relationship with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) - McKinley Marketing was uniquely positioned to deliver even more value by turning its attention to the associations with whom so many of its staff had worked closely for years.
In 2000, McKinley Marketing was retained by our first association clients, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (who remains a client to this day). Within three years, the revenue generated from consulting services eclipsed that derived from corporate clients. Today, our association consulting projects are the driving force behind one of the industry's leading firms, enabling us to expand our services to Chicago, IL in late 2006.
